- Notes
- This tartan was designed to acknowledge the cultural and heritage significance of the Aseel Arabian Saluki (an ancient sighthound historically used by Bedouin tribes for hunting), as championed by His Excellency Fahad Al Farhan, President of the International Aseel Arabian Saluki Center (IAASC). The sett incorporates areas of very fine line work, referencing the ripples of the desert landscape and the refined elegance of the Saluki’s fine coat. The Centre is dedicated to protecting the Aseel Arabian Saluki - an integral part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s heritage - by preserving the integrity of the Saluki Registry, promoting ethical breeding practices, and safeguarding the breed’s true type, function, and historical legacy. This tartan was designed to commemorate both the Smooth Saluki and the Feathered Saluki of the Arabian Peninsula - two strains, distinct in form yet united in origin - woven together in honour of lineage, cultural identity, and living heritage.
