- Notes
- This tartan was designed to celebrate the character of Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada - a community shaped by its rich history, welcoming spirit and close connection to the landscape of the Tantramar region. Colours: blue is intended to represent the waters and wide Atlantic horizons that define Nova Scotia; white represents winter landscapes and the bright future of the community; green represents the countryside, fields and natural landscape surrounding Amherst; dark blue and contrasting overchecks are intended to bring depth and tradition, reflecting Amherst's historic roots and the generations of families, businesses and community organisations that have helped shape the town. The threadcount references the founding date December 18, 1889.
